This Lent season (March 5th - April 20th) Cornerstone will be raising money to support the Karen Refugee Committee. Our goal is to raise 10,000.00
The Cornerstone Church Mission Team is partnering with the Karen Refugee Committee (KRC) to respond to the urgent humanitarian crisis unfolding in refugee camps along the Thailand-Myanmar border. Through members of our church family, Alwyn and Eh Paw, we have a deep connection to the Karen refugee community and a firsthand understanding of their challenges.
Recently, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), a key provider of healthcare and water services, announced it would be ending its programs. This decision has left thousands of refugees in desperate need of medical care, clean water, and food assistance. This is what the KRC has to say about the current crisis:
“The situation for refugees in Thai camps is increasingly precarious as critical services are withdrawn. The KRC and Camp Committee are committed to advocating for the rights and needs of these vulnerable individuals, but we cannot do it alone. We urgently request your support and prayers as we work to restore healthcare, ensure access to clean water, and secure food assistance for those in need. With your help, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of refugees who rely on us for their survival.”
We invite you to prayerfully consider how you can be part of this mission—whether through financial support or committed prayer. Together, we can bring hope and relief to those in need.
Please memo "Lent Project" and make all payments out to Cornerstone Church.
Our annual Lent Bake sale will be taking place on Palm Sunday, April 13th during the service at 9:30 AM. All proceeds go to the Lent Project to raise money to support the Karen Refugee Committee. You can find out more about our Lent Project in the next menu.
